This issue looks Netanyahu’s relenting on borders, how the U.S. and the U.N. do the work of Israel’s enemies, Gov. Perry’s Call to Prayer, the lawsuit against the Ground Zero Cross, and the heat taken by a Harvard professor for his anti-terrorist article.
OUR ISRAELI CONNECTION
Netanyahu Relents on Borders
Newsmax reports: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would be willing to resume talks with the Palestinians on the basis of the 1967 boundary line, which would mean withdrawing from West Bank territory, Israel’s Channel Two television said yesterday. An Israeli official, speaking anonymously because of the sensitivity of the subject, said that as part of Israel’s effort to return to peace talks and counter a Palestinian bid for UN recognition, Israel is willing to accept a U.S. proposal on borders…
The proposal included provisions for land swaps that would allow Israel to keep some large West Bank settlements in return for offsetting land on the Israel side of the 1967 line. The proposal does not call for a full Israeli return to the 1967 lines, the Israeli official said. In remarks to about 11,000 American Israel Public Affairs Committee delegates at the Washington Convention Center May 23, Netanyahu emphasized that “Israel cannot return to the indefensible 1967 borders.”
U.S. and U.N. Do Work of Israel’s Enemies
Jerusalem Prayer Team reports: The recent unrest in Syria has given Iran the excuse to pour thousands of secret police, undercover agents, and members of the Revolutionary Guard into Damascus and the surrounding countryside to prop up the regime of Bashar Al-Assad. In turn, this gives them a prime position on Israel’s border, poised to attack at any moment. This in addition to the hundreds of millions of dollars Iran has given to Hezbollah terrorists in Syria and Lebanon to use against the Jews.
The enemies of Israel grow bolder with every passing day. They see the reality that Israel’s so-called friends will not help her in the current crisis. They realize that America is now led by the most anti-Israel administration in our history. They see the United States and the United Nations doing the work of harming Israel without them having to launch a single missile or fire a single bullet. They know that if the plan to create a Palestinian state succeeds, they will have the greatest opportunity to destroy Israel they have ever seen.
IT’S NEWS TO ME
Perry’s Call to Prayer Held Today (August 6)
Texas Governor Rick Perry pointed out that there would be no DVD sales, book sales, CD sales, T-Shirt sales, and no vendors…just water, fasting and prayer at the event in Reliant Stadium in Houston. Here are some excerpts from remarks he made a few months ago regarding the event:
At twenty-seven years old, I knew that I’d been called to the ministry. I’ve just always been really stunned by how big a pulpit I was gonna have! I still am. I truly believe with all my heart that God has put me in this place at this time to do His will…
On Aug the 6th of this year, 2011, we are going to have a day of prayer and fasting. And it’s going to be the real deal. It’s not going to be some program where we line up a dozen political figures to come in and talk. It’s going to be people standing on that stage, projecting and proclaiming Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas…
I think it’s time for us to use our wisdom and our influence and really put it in God’s hands. That’s what I’m going to do, and I hope you’ll join me… Here’s what I want to leave you with. I know from time to time, people will say something like, “There goes Perry. He wants to secede.” But I love this country. We’re a special place. We were created by God-fearing individuals who understood those biblical values and how powerful they could be and would be in the future… And I suggest that for our country, our best days are ahead if we’ll get on our knees and ask God to take over and give us wisdom.
Atheists Sue to Remove Ground Zero Cross
Jay Sekulow reports: From the ashes and rubble of the most horrific terrorist
attack America has ever seen, rose a cross – two steel beams – what remained of one of the World Trade Center buildings after 9/11. It stands as a symbol of hope and a memorial to the thousands who lost their lives on that tragic day. Now, an atheist group is suing to have the Ground Zero Cross removed from a new 9/11 museum at Ground Zero. The atheists want their day in court, but I don’t think it’s going to be a long day.
Harvard Professor Takes Heat for Anti-Terrorist Article
Vision to America reports: Subramanian Swamy, a summer school economics instructor at Harvard recently wrote an article about the July 13 Muslim terrorist bombing in Mumbai, India, his homeland. The title of the article was: How to Wipe Out Islamic Terror. In his article, Swamy wrote that Muslims in India:
“Are being programmed by a slow reactive process to become radical and thus slide into suicide against Hindus. We need a collective mindset as Hindus to stand against the Islamic terrorist.”
As a result of Swamy’s article which was only published in India, more than 200 people have signed a petition demanding that Harvard immediately terminate him.
