Israel Prepares for War
Joel Rosenberg reports: Evidence continues to grow that Israel is set for war – Netanyahu and his cabinet are feeling increasingly confident they can decisively neutralize the Iranian nuclear threat for years to come. The Obama administration doesn’t want Israel to hit Iran, at least not before the November elections – That said, the White House doesn’t appear at the moment to be threatening Israel with a cutoff of aid or other support if Israel does feel the need to strike.

There are a number of reasons that could dissuade Netanyahu from ordering a strike soon, but perhaps the most intriguing X Factor at the moment is Vladimir Putin – An intriguing New York Times story over the weekend explained that for the Kremlin to raise enough money for Putin to keep his lavish campaign promises over the next few years, oil prices would need to average $150 a barrel, signficantly higher than the current $120 a barrel. One way to drive up oil prices, of course, would be to encourage or foment more tensions in the Middle East. Putin is already moving Russian forces into Syria. He’s also actively preparing to build a new regional political/military/economic alliance he calls the “Eurasian Union.”

What if Russia then intervenes in the current standoff between Israel and Iran and signs a mutual defense treaty with Iran? What if Putin warns Israel that an attack on Iran would be regarded by the Kremlin as an attack against Russia itself? That alone would throw a monkey wrench into Netanyahu’s plans to neutralize Iran’s nuclear program with a preemptive strike. But what if Putin then went further? He could go to the U.N. in September and call for a nuclear-free zone in the Middle East. He could persuade Iran to give up its nuclear program. Then, in a move similar to what President Bush demanded of Iraq in 2003, Putin could demand that Israel disclose, dismantle and discard its weapons of mass destruction within 60 or 90 days, or face an international coalition willing to force Israel to do so. This scenario – or a variation of it – would not only likely halt Israeli plans for a strike on Iran, but could actually set into motion the fulfillment of the prophecies of Ezekiel 38-39 and the “War of Gog and Magog.”

Iran behind Violence Originating in Gaza
The Jerusalem Prayer Team reports: My [Mike Evans] long-time friend Prime Minister Netanyahu last week spoke to the Knesset in Jerusalem and delivered a stern denunciation of Iran’s proxy war against Israel:

The dominant factor that motivates these events in Gaza is not the Palestinian issue. The dominant factor that motivates these events in Gaza is Iran. Gaza equals Iran. Where do the missiles come from? From Iran. Where does the money come from? From Iran. Who trains the terrorists? Iran. Who builds the infrastructure? Iran… The terrorist organizations in Gaza-Hamas and Jihad, as well as Hezbollah in Lebanon-are taking shelter under an Iranian umbrella. Now imagine what will happen if that umbrella becomes nuclear…

Textbook Analysis Report Released
Act for America reports: It is with great delight that I announce to you that today we released “Education or Indoctrination? The Treatment of Islam in 6th through 12th Grade American Textbooks.” To give you just one example of the errors our research uncovered, in discussing the 9/11 attacks, the textbooks typically fail to mention the perpetrators were Muslims or that they acted in the cause of Islamic jihad.

In one book the terrorists are portrayed as people fighting for a cause. In just a few years after September 11th, the history of what happened on that tragic day was rewritten in our school textbooks. The Crusades are routinely depicted as an unprovoked invasion by Christians of the Muslim-owned Holy Land, and Muslims depicted as victims of this aggression. This historical revisionism does not inform students that Muslims invaded and conquered the Holy Land (and the Jews and Christians who lived there) over four hundred years prior to the Crusades, and that the Crusades were an effort to regain the Holy Land from the Muslim conquerors. The Holy Land was not originally Muslim land, as is either stated or implied in the textbooks reviewed. Democrat Headquarters in Florida Flies Illegal US Flag with Barack Obama’s Picture
Godfather Politics reports: The Democrat headquarters in Lake County, Florida felt they were being quite patriotic by flying two American flags. One of the flags was a normal US flag. The second flag depicted a facial portrait of President Barack Obama’s face in the blue field instead of the fifty stars that should be there. Local veterans saw the illegal flag flying over the Democrat headquarters building and were quite upset. Read more.

Shariah Victory in Florida Threatens Human Rights
The American Thinker reports: A controversy over the defeat of Florida legislation that would have restricted state courts from considering foreign laws as part of legal decisions has intensified. This is after a Tampa judge ruled that two opposing Muslim parties have their dispute settled under Islamic sharia law “pursuant to the Quran” in spite of the fact that one Muslim group did not want to do this…and the Florida Appellate Court denied the petition to appeal the judge’s ruling.
