Amazing Archeological Find in Israel
The collection of jewelry archaeologists recently uncovered in northern Israel gives a new meaning to ‘antique.’ The three-millennia-old jewelry trove may be one of the most valuable ever discovered from the biblical period. Experts from Tel Aviv University uncovered the hoard at Tel Megiddo, a man-made hill near Afula, inhabited since the eighth millennium BCE. Read all about it.

Soldiers wounded near Gaza while terror groups dismantled in West Bank
David Zauber reports: An officer and soldier who were patrolling the Gaza border on Wednesday were wounded after being struck by shots fired by Palestinians. They were treated for mild injuries at a nearby hospital. Vice Premier Shaul Mofaz said that the IDF must be ready for all developments on the Gaza front. Meanwhile, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) uncovered a number of Palestinian terrorist cells based in the Hebron and Bethlehem areas. The Hebron-based cell is associated with Izzadin Kassam, Hamas’s military wing, and was planning to kidnap or murder a Kiryat Arba resident. A Bethlehem-based group was also arrested for a highly sophisticated IED attack near Yata. The bomb, hidden within a fire extinguisher, was detonated with a mobile phone.

IT’S NEWS TO ME

News from the Jerusalem Prayer Team
The civil war festering in Syria has taken a turn for the worse in recent days. Thousands have been killed by the brutal Assad regime as the dictator desperately clings to power. Yet as we saw in Egypt, the legitimate desire of the people for freedom is being coopted by terrorist elements and used by the most radical Islamists to gain control. Reports this week reveal that Al Qaeda operatives and other terrorists are active within Syria, particularly along Israel’s northern border. There may be as many as 700 Al Qaeda fighters from Libya right now who took part in the rebellion that overthrew Col. Gadhafi in Syria. And advanced weapons looted from the Libyan army have never been accounted for and may well have been smuggled into Syria as well.

Iranian authorities this week were promoting the so-called Gospel of Barnabas. The work, which was discovered in Turkey more than ten years ago, claims that Jesus was not the Son of God and was never crucified. Iranian leaders said the work would “undermine Christianity” and promote Islam around the world.

A new United Nations report has revealed a massive increase in Iran’s nuclear capacity this year. Despite the international embargo that is supposed to be in place, Iran has increased their number of centrifuges by more than 50% since February and has now enriched uranium to at least 27%. This represents a new level of technical ability and brings them even closer to having nuclear warheads. They are already capable of producing dangerous “dirty bombs” to release low-level radiation and devastate Israel’s cities.

Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood Tells Christians to Convert, Pay Tribute, or Leave
Christianresponsalerts.com reports: The Muslim Brotherhood presidential candidate gives Coptic Christians three options: Leave their homeland, convert, or pay an oppressive tax for the privilege of living under Islam. He left out the fourth option, which is one favored by many Islamists: Killing the infidel Copts.

Kansas Governor Signs Bill Effectively Banning Shariah
Newsmax reports:Republican Kansas Governor Sam Brownback signed a bill aimed at keeping state courts and agencies from using Islamic or other non-U.S. laws when making decisions, his office said on Friday. The law has been dubbed the “sharia bill” because critics say it targets the Islamic legal code. Sharia, or Islamic law, covers all aspects of Muslim life, including religious obligations and financial dealings. Opponents of state bans say they could nullify wills or legal contracts between Muslims. Supporters said the law will reassure foreigners in Kansas that state laws and the U.S. Constitution would protect them. Opponents said it singled out Muslims for ridicule and was unnecessary because American laws prevail on U.S. soil. Read more.

Traitorous Ft Hood Bomb Plotter Cites Islam as Motivation
CNSnews reports: A Muslim U.S. soldier accused of planning to bomb Fort Hood troops says he wasn’t seeking vengeance but justice for people in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a recording played at his federal trial Wednesday. Army Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo is heard telling his mother during a recorded jail visit that “their suffering is my suffering.” Abdo, 22, is accused of planning to detonate a bomb inside a Killeen restaurant frequented by troops from the nearby Texas Army post and then shoot any survivors.”The report goes on: “Abdo is heard telling his mother that “it’s all true” and “the reason is religion. There is no other reason.””
