The words of Nikita Krushev are returning to haunt us.
IT’S WORTH CONSIDERING
If you were born before 1950, you may remember Nikita Krushev, Premier of the Soviet Union from 1958 to 1964, standing before the United Nations on September 29, 1959 banging his shoe on the podium and shouting to the West and the United States in particular, “We will bury you!” A friend and faithful subscriber recently reminded me of another part of that famous tirade. It needs little explanation. What was considered preposterous back then has suddenly become worthy of our concern.
AS I SEE IT
America has been a victim of the frog in the kettle syndrome. The heat was turned up so gradually that we didn’t realize we were being boiled to death. Actually the dial wasn’t set to MED and then soon to HI until 2008, but by then America had become so desensitized to evil that it couldn’t recognize the contemporary version of Nikita Krushev as he stood before them promising to radically transform America. This is the only promise he has kept, but it’s the only one that really matters. It’s all about the transformation and now, six years later, we’re starting to see what that transformation really looks like. It looks like the caption for the picture above and the primary weapon for achieving it is what has become known as Obamacare.
