This edition looks at Netanyahu’s call to Abbas for peace, Obama’s double standard when criticizing Israel, more U.N. anti-Semitism, Al Qaeda in the Libyan rebel force, and the new Iranian end-times movie. OUR ISRAELI CONNECTION
Netanyahu Stresses Regional Peace over Palestinian Unity
The Israel Project reports that the Palestinian Authority must choose peace with Israel over reconciliation with the terrorist group Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said. “Choose peace with Israel,” Netanyahu told a meeting of the Jewish National Fund in Jerusalem. “Abandon unity with Hamas because Hamas is the antithesis of peace.” Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has made a push for Palestinian unity between his Fatah faction and the Gaza-based, Iranian-backed Hamas, which has vowed to destroy Israel, in recent days while rejecting calls to return to peace talks with Israel.
Obama’s Double Standard
One Jerusalem reports that as American bombs reign on Tripoli, the White House response to the bombing in Jerusalem includes words saying that Israel has a right to defend itself and goes on to express sympathy for Palestinians who may have been injured when Israel attacked military installations to silence missile strikes that were being launched against Israel. Only in the mind of President Obama is there a moral equivalence between a bomb set off to injure Israeli civilians and a military strike to silence attacks on Israel. And the irony is that a few days ago Obama ordered strikes like the one carried out by Israel in Libya.
More U.N. Anti-Semitism
As Syria’s dictatorship is killing Syrians rising up against the repressive Assad regime, as Iran’s theocracy continues to repress its people, and the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt led an assault on a Nobel Peace Prize winner — the United Nations is preparing to give center stage to one of its favorite “experts” who is accusing Israel of ethic cleansing and apartheid. His evidence? Israel building apartments for Jews in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
IT’S NEW TO ME
Libyan Rebel Forces Largely Al Qaeda
Vision to America reports: White House sources confirm that in the run up to the decision to involve U.S. military personnel, President Obama was fully briefed that a large portion of the Libyan rebel forces most active in areas around such critical cities as Benghazi had ties to al Qaeda, particularly Al Qaeda in Iraq, the wing of the terrorist group that killed hundreds of U.S. troops in Iraq. “He was warned that should we reach a point where NATO needs to re-arm the rebels — it appears that time is coming now — we will be arming the very enemy that we have been fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan,” says a career employee at the State Department. “Secretary Clinton knows it, the White House knows it, but we’re working with these thugs anyway because the President thinks it’s the moral thing to do in the face of Gaddafi.”
According to GrassTopsUSA, shortly after unrest broke out in eastern Libya in mid-February, reports emerged that an “Islamic Emirate” had been declared in the eastern Libyan town of Darnah and that, furthermore, the alleged head of that Emirate, Abdul-Hakim al-Hasadi, was a former detainee at the American prison camp in Guantánamo. The reports, which originated from Libyan government sources, were largely ignored or dismissed in the Western media.
Now, however, al-Hasadi has admitted in an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore that he fought against American forces in Afghanistan. Al-Hasadi says that he is the person responsible for the defense of Darnah — not the town’s “Emir.” In a previous interview with Canada’s Globe and Mail, he claimed to have a force of about 1,000 men and to have commanded rebel units in battles around the town of Bin Jawad.
Iran Releases End-Times Movie
Jerusalem Prayer Team reports that the government of Iran has released a movie called The Coming Is Near designed to prepare Muslims around the world for the return of the “twelfth Mahdi.” This radical Islamic doctrine, devoutly believed by Iranian President Ahmadinejad, teaches that an end-time war will sweep the world following which this hidden descendant of Mohammed will return to place the entire earth under Shari’a law. The video claims that Iran is destined to rise as a great power in the last days to help defeat America and Israel and usher in the return of the Mahdi. And it makes clear the Iranians believe that time is fast approaching. The video describes Ahmadinejad and Iran’s Supreme Ayatollah Khamenei as the leaders who will bring about his return. It condemns the United States and Israel, and offers praise to the Muslim Brotherhood for helping to overthrow the government of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt.
