This edition laments the lack of American outrage at the world’s plan to destroy Israel.

SINCE YOU ASKED
A closer look at the unrest throughout the Middle-East reveals a common thread, and that thread does not bode well for Israel. That thread consists of ubiquitous images of the Palestinian flag amid signs and cries calling for the “Liberation of Palestine.” Israel is clearly in the geographical, political, and religious center of all the recent action. Forget the nonsense about the democratic revolutions. I hope my past articles have put that issue to rest. The unprecedented partnerships between Muslims, socialists and communists, combined with an array of far left “revolutionaries” clearly point to the joint goal- bringing down the current “world order” characterized by American capitalism. First, the barrier to homogeneity in the Middle-East must be removed. This, of course, is Israel. With Israel eliminated, they concentrate on the United States. Israel, of course, is more that just a barrier. She is a representation of the God that Israel’s enemies so despise.

Let’s briefly review the amazing events that have taken place in just the past six months. The spark that started everything occurred in Tunisia last December. Widespread protests forced President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to flee the country. Similar demonstrations in Egypt forced the ouster of Hosni Mubarak who had been relatively friendly toward Israel. With help from the United States, the Muslim Brotherhood is expected to play a key role in the new government.  Jordan, under King Abdullah II, has also been rocked by protests, putting the 1994 peace treaty with Israel on shaky grounds. Lebanon recently saw its pro-Western Prime Minister replaced by Hezbollah, which boasts of having tens of thousands of rockets and missiles ready to be launched against Israel.

Syria, a long-time sponsor of terrorist organizations, and known for large stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, has also experienced similar unrest. The brutal Assad regime has killed hundreds (possibly thousands) of its own people to maintain his grip on power. We’re seeing nearly the same thing in Libya. Iran’s President Ahmadinejad has made it clear that he intends to wipe Israel off the map. Iraq’s future is unclear. The planned withdrawal of U.S. troops and the growing influence of Iranian radical Islamist groups don’t look good for Israel. Add to this, Fatah’s control of the West Bank (biblical Judea and Samaria) and Hamas in Gaza and you can see why Israel is in deep trouble.

To bring the problem into sharper focus for us in the U.S., imagine that you live in Jew Jersey and every other state east of the Mississippi River hates you, wants you dead, and has weapons pointed at you. If that’s not bad enough, your only remaining friend, across the ocean, is now cooperating with your enemies. This is reality for Israel.

AS I SEE IT
It is unconscionable that our government has turned its back on our only friend in the Middle-East, but it is equally as unconscionable for Christians to be so silent on the matter. In September, the United Nations intends to unilaterally declare a Palestinian state. The only nation that can stop it is the United States, and it looks like that’s not going to happen. Do we not realize what this means? Are we so self absorbed that we think it’s their problem, not ours? Where are the Christian leaders on this? Where are the heroes for Israel? Where are those who understand how disastrous it is to be on the wrong side on this issue? The upcoming vote will represent perhaps the most far-reaching man-made “world-body” decision in the history of the world. It flies right in the face of Almighty God, Who will, I assure you, have the last word.

There is no wisdom and no understanding and no counsel against the Lord (Proverbs 21:30).
