It’s Always Israel’s Fault
CUFI reports: Last Thursday, southern Israel was struck by a sophisticated multi-stage terrorist attack, carried out by almost two-dozen terrorists entering from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. The ambush upon Israeli buses and cars with gunfire and a bomb killed eight Israelis, and wounding over twenty-five people. Three Egyptian soldiers were killed in the crossfire that followed between the IDF and Palestinian terrorists who had launched the attack on Israel from Egyptian soil – and the Jews are being blamed…It is 1938 again and the world has again gone mad…
 
On Saturday morning, Egypt announced it was withdrawing its ambassador from Israel, stating the shooting of the three Egyptian soldiers was a “breach of Egypt’s 1979 peace treaty with Israel.” The Egyptian Ambassador would only remain in Israel upon the world hearing an apology from Israel for the killing of “three of Egypt’s sons.” A flurry of late night diplomatic meetings were held, pressuring Israel to issue the demanded apology – and Saturday afternoon, Ehud Barach released an official “statement of regret.” The Egyptian ambassador remains in Israel for now, but the Egyptian government has announced that Israel’s apology was welcome – but not enough.

The Border Trap
The Canadian National Post reports: Imagine that the UN General Assembly voted last month — as opposed to next month — to recognize a state of Palestine. What would the world look like this morning, in the wake of the deadly terror attacks in southern Israel? A UNGA vote to declare a Palestinian state would have no legal effect, of course. The UN’s own rules lodge the power of state creation in the Security Council, not the General Assembly. That’s why the 1988 vote in the General Assembly to recognize “Palestine” had no juridical effect — and why the 1999 vote in the Security Council to create East Timor did have effect. But a UN action does not need to have legal effect to have practical effect. Propaganda has a power of its own. Israel responded to Thursday’s terror attacks with air strikes against seven targets inside Gaza. The international reaction? Quiet. There are many reasons for the quiet. PA Vows to Erase ‘Filth,’ Build Arab Homes at Western Wall
Chana Ya’ar reports: The Palestinian Authority plans to build Arab housing in the Western Wall plaza if ever it gains control of Jerusalem. The Palestinian Authority plans to build an Arab housing complex on Judaism’s holiest site if ever it gains control of Jerusalem, according to a documentary translated by the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW). 
 
 A video clip from an official Palestinian Authority TV documentary broadcast August 10, 2011 on the Fatah-controlled television network from Ramallah stated that the construction would come as part of the PA’s plan to erase the Jewish presence from Jerusalem. “They [Israelis] know for certain that our roots are deeper than their false history,” the documentary stated in Arabic. We, from the balcony of our home, look out over [Islamic] holiness and on sin and filth (Jews’ praying at the Western Wall) in an area that used to have [Arab] people and homes. We are drawing our new maps,” the program continued. “When they [Israelis] disappear from the picture, like a forgotten chapter in the pages of our city’s history, we will build it anew.”

The Blaze reports: While perhaps not shocking, it is profoundly disturbing that in the purportedly more “moderate” Egypt of 2011, demonstrators took to the streets outside the Israeli embassy in Cairo with signs bearing swastikas and a message that read: “the gas chambers are ready.” It was feared by some that the fall of Mubarak would create a vacuum, thereby opening the door for an Israel-hostile regime to enter Egypt’s halls of power. If “democracy” is what the Egyptian spring truly sought and cared about, then why the vitriolic calls for Jews to be sent to the gas chambers? And to whose gas chambers, exactly, are the protesters referring? Is this what Israel has to look forward to from its ever-changing neighbor?
