This issue looks at the weapons currently pointed at Israel, the U.N. Secretary General’s “welcome” by Palestinians, and more.
OUR ISRAELI CONNECTION
News from the Jerusalem Prayer Team
According to Israeli military intelligence, today there are more than 200,000 missiles and rockets pointed at the heads of innocent Jewish civilians. That’s a staggering number. When war comes, as it almost surely will, those terrible instruments of death and destruction will rain down from the sky all across Israel. Families will be forced into tiny bomb shelters…or worse, have nowhere safe to hide. All of this is being financed and encouraged by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the leaders of Iran.
When UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon was in Israel to try to restart the stalled peace negotiations, he urged Israel to make concessions to the Palestinians. The Prime Minister rebuffed those demands, correctly pointing out that settlements are not the problem preventing peace; it is the unwillingness of the Palestinians to accept Israel’s existence that is the problem… Since the Palestinians don’t want peace and the Israelis aren’t willing to give in to all the Palestinian demands before the talks even start, he didn’t get very far. But there was a very telling incident during this trip. While Secretary Ban was in Gaza, his armored convoy (the fact that he needs armed protection to visit the Palestinians should tell you something) was attacked by dozens of Palestinians. They threw sticks and their shoes-a sign of great disrespect-at Ban’s car, accusing him of favoring Israel! It would be funny if it were not so tragic. The United Nations is the most pro-Palestinian body in the world, yet the UN leader is being physically attacked for not being pro-Palestinian enough.
Israel’s Shin Bet security service has sent out an urgent worldwide warning of an imminent Iranian terrorist threat, not just against obvious targets such as embassies, but also “soft” targets like synagogues, Jewish community centers, and schools. A number of facilities across America have been placed on especially high alert. Iran has used this tactic successfully in the past, including the horrific bombing of a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1994 that killed 85 people.
IT’S NEWS TO ME
Act for America reports: Check out the picture of a billboard seen by one of our members in the Kansas City area. The billboard is sponsored by the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), a Muslim Brotherhood connected organization. Note the strategy-that opposition to sharia law is supposedly an infringement on the first amendment protection of religious freedom. This is, of course, disingenuous. Is ICNA arguing that the following provisions of sharia law be protected by the first amendment?
• A Muslim man beating his wife for disobedience.
• Punishment, up to capital punishment, of “apostates”-those who leave Islam.
• Polygamy. (In 1879, the Supreme Court ruled that Mormon polygamy was not protected under the first amendment.)
• Jihad.
• Suppression of criticism of Islam or Muhammad. (This is particularly obnoxious, since the first amendment also protects freedom of speech.)
Supreme Court Justice: U.S. Constitution Inferior
WorldNetDaily reports: One member of the U.S. Supreme Court, whose members are sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States, says she would look elsewhere – Canada, South Africa and Europe – should she be tasked with writing a constitution now. The stunning statements come from Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She was being interviewed by Al Hayat in Egypt, which is trying to develop a government after citizens deposed longtime dictator President Hosni Mubarack last year. Egypt is facing major obstacles to a democratic form of government as the Muslim Brotherhood as a political party has been assembling a majority in the country. Among its goals is a Muslim caliphate worldwide. Read more.
Former DEA Chief: Hezbollah Eyeing Southwest Border, ‘Hell to Pay in the Not Too Distant Future’
Penny Starr (CNSNews.com) reports: The Iranian-supported Shi’ite terrorist group Hezbollah has spread its influence all the way to the U.S. border with Mexico, a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on Iran’s influence in the Western Hemisphere heard on Thursday. Michael Braun, a former chief of operations at the Drug Enforcement Agency, said Hezbollah had developed relationships with the powerful Mexican drug cartels to “move their agenda forward.” He cited a plot, recently uncovered by the DEA, involving an Iranian operative in Mexico allegedly planning to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington, D.C. “Hezbollah are absolute masters at forming close relationships with existing organized crime groups around the world that helps them facilitate what they need to do to move their agendas forward,” Braun told CNSNews.com following the hearing. “And if anyone thinks for a moment that they don’t have their eye on the southwest border and all of our country, then they couldn’t be more wrong.” Read more.
