This issue looks at Obama’s latest undermining of Israel, the global assault on Jerusalem, Putin’s planned visit to Israel, more examples of textbook “history rewriting,” executions in Iran, and how God is working in restricted nations.

Bolton Charges Obama Purposely Undermining Israel
Newsmax reports: Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton blasted the Obama administration Wednesday afternoon for putting “just merciless” behind-the-scenes pressure on the Israeli government in order to persuade Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu not to launch an attack on Iran. Bolton added that reported intelligence leaks by the administration could hurt Israel’s chances of successful knocking out Iran’s nuclear facilities. Read more.
Global Assault on Jerusalem Raises Tension
One Jerusalem reports: On Friday March 30th, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, George Galloway (Saddam Hussein’s great apologist) and assorted anti-Semites are uniting to sponsor a universal march on Jerusalem. Their stated aim is to stop the “Judaizing” of the capital of the Jewish people. They proclaim that defending the city against an (imagined) onslaught by the Zionists. They announce themselves as the protectors of the Palestinian people. Nowhere in their documents will you find mention that Jerusalem is and has been the capital of only one people — the Jewish people. Read more.
Putin to Visit Israel in June – But Why?
Joel Rosenberg reports: Vladimir Putin will make a high-profile visit to Israel in June, not long after he is sworn in as Russia’s new president on May 7th. But why? News reports indicate Mr. Putin’s first foreign trip upon reclaiming his power will be to the U.S. for the G8 summit on May 20. That makes sense. The U.S.-Russian relationship has widely been considered the most important bilateral geopolitical relationship on the planet since the end of World War II. But with all the other important countries and leaders in the world Mr. Putin could visit, why is he choosing to make meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu his first objective after his meeting with President Obama?
What is the Russian leader’s motive? What does he want to accomplish, and why? Will Putin seek to pressure Israel not to launch a preemptive strike on Iran? Will he visit other countries in the epicenter on the same trip? Will he, for example, visit Iran, Syria, and Lebanon, as well? What about other countries mentioned in the prophecies of Ezekiel 38-39? And what are the implications for America if our government doesn’t stand with Israel in a showdown with Iran and Russia? These are developments well worth watching closely.
Obama Administration Refuses to State Jerusalem is the Capital of Israel
One Jerusalem reports: Today [3/29], at the daily State Department press briefing, official State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland repeatedly refused to state that the Obama Administration recognizes Jerusalem as the Capital of the State of Israel. In answer to the question: “Is it the view of the – of the United States that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, notwithstanding the question about the embassy – the location of the U.S. embassy? Nuland said, “We are not going to prejudge the outcome of those negotiations, including the final status of Jerusalem.” In other words, all of Jerusalem is up for grabs in the eyes of the Obama Administration.

More Examples of Rewritten History
Act for America reports: Here is yet another example of how history is being rewritten in America’s newest 6th – 12th grade textbooks. Regarding Christians and Jews under Muslim control:
“Christians and Jews had full religious freedom. They built churches and synagogues…” Prentice Hall, World Explorer, Medieval Times to Today, 2003, pp. 81 – 82. Contrary to the historically false claim that Christians and Jews conquered by Muslim armies had “full religious freedom,” one Muslim historian estimated that as many as 30,000 churches in the Middle East were destroyed by Muslim invaders during the first few centuries of jihad. Iran Executes at Least One Person Every Day
The Israel Project reports: Jerusalem, March 27 – Iran executed one citizen per day in 2011, according to a report published Tuesday by Amnesty International. Among the crimes punishable by death are adultery and sodomy. Officially, Tehran executed 360 people last year but that does not “account for the probable extent of Iran’s use of the death penalty – Amnesty International has had credible reports of substantial numbers of executions not officially acknowledged.” Amnesty says the real number of executions in Iran could be double the governmental figure. What is God Doing in Restricted Nations?
Voice of the Martyrs reports: It would be wonderful if each of you could travel with VOM staff into a restricted nation. I know you’d be encouraged to see what God is doing and to meet face-to-face with Christians who risk everything-even their lives-to follow Jesus. Obviously, we can’t all go on such a trip. But there’s a way you can hear what God is doing in hostile and restricted nations without buying an airplane ticket. We have expanded our VOM regional conference ministry to every part of the United States in order to share current stories of what God is doing in hostile and restricted nations.
