The Greatest Weapon the World has Never Seen
IT’S WORTH CONSIDERING
In Matthew 24 Jesus said that one of the signs of His return would be the rising up of nations against nation and kingdom against kingdom. This has been the story of the Middle East in the past few years. The governments of Egypt, Libya and Tunisia have been toppled and Syria is in the middle of a bloody civil war. Prophecy is being fulfilled before our eyes and more is on the way.
At the center of it all is the religion of Islam. Just watch what is done around the world in the name of Islam and you will soon see its true face-a face of deception and death fully under the control of the great deceiver and death monger-Satan himself. The Koran boasts that its god, Allah, is the greatest of all deceivers (Sura 3:54). Everything else in Islam flows from that. Muhammad said that war is deception, and Islam is at war with every non-Muslim. Within Islam, the demons worship Allah. To Muslims, being on the same side as demons is a good thing. When you welcome the demons, they are quick to accept the invitation, and they have taken control of those who have given themselves to Islam.
The battle against this deception of the highest order is a perfect example of Paul’s warning in Ephesians 6:12: “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers and spirits of wickedness.” In fact, the greatest weapon the world has never seen is spiritual warfare by Christians on their knees against principalities, powers, and spiritual wickedness. Spiritual battles are won only with spiritual weapons utilized by broken, submitted servants of the Lord Jesus Christ.
AS I SEE IT
Like it or not, Christians who are committed to the cause of Christ, whatever the cost, will find themselves doing battle against Satan and his henchmen on a daily basis. The advance of Islam provides yet one more opportunity. It’s all about the unseen world. Winning against Islam requires the same tactics as winning any other spiritual battle. Christians must remind ourselves that the source of the battles waged against us is not what we see-it’s not the people we butt heads with-those who seem to be out to get us. The real battle is unseen and it’s being orchestrated by Satan and carried out by his demons.
That’s why it’s so important to begin each day by putting on our spiritual armor (Eph. 6:13-17)-the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the sandals of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit. Only then will we be able to effectively fight, and win, our spiritual battles. Are we living our lives according to what the Bible says is true about us or are we believing Satan’s lies? Are we guarding our hearts with Christ’s righteousness or are we letting all sorts of filth in? Are we walking in the peace the gospel brings or are we fretting about everything? Are we living by faith or by sight? Are we using the Word of God as a weapon or as a magic lamp to fulfill our desires?
This is how the war against Islam will be won. Are we willing to abide by the time-tested rules of engagement or will we keep reverting to using earthly methods? The choice is ours.
