SETTING OUR MINDS ON THINGS ABOVE
When the Children of Israel were on the verge of finally entering into the Promise Land, God instructed Moses to tell the people that He would go before them to drive out the inhabitants of the land. To some, this appears extreme and cruel, but God explained why this was absolutely necessary. They were extremely wicked and would have a horrible effect on God’s children. These people would seduce them into their perverse and barbaric religions and pull them away from the One True God.
God’s point was that evil must be eradicated, not tolerated, and certainly not embraced. God had given His people a choice with consequences attached to each option. He kept telling the Israelites that He would drive out these wicked people before them if they would just choose correctly and trust Him to do as He promised. We know how that worked out. They failed to believe and trust completely in their God who had brought them so far. Consequently, the nations that they failed to drive out or destroy proved to be thorns in their sides for generations.
History would have been very different if Israel had trusted in their God and loved Him above all else. The consequences of their failure is still seen today. Israel has turned her back on God and has paid a heavy price. God, however, had made a promise that He would make them a great nation (despite her disobedience) and it is His name and reputation that is at stake.
The barbaric slaughter on Orlando shows that America is on the same path. The evil inherent in Islam has been
allowed to do exactly as God warned the Israelites. No, I don’t mead radical Islam. I mean Islam, because the savages who murder non-Muslims are simply carrying out the very clear commands of their “holy books.” They’re not radical at all. They are simply taking their religion seriously.
The more we blame everything but the real cause, the more the evil will spread. The more “victories” the enemy enjoys, the more those on the edge will be inclined to become part of the team. Yet, the love affair of our President (and his team) with all things Islamic will only exacerbates the problem.
We had the capability but not the will to wipe ISIS off the face of the earth as soon as they started flexing their muscles. Evil was not dealt with within our borders and way too many angry young men have been seduced into a life of barbarism for a cause that is beyond comprehension to most of us. We have not only tolerated this religion, but have transformed its adherents into a protected class, welcoming them into our government, building “bridges” between us and them, appointing them to key national defense positions, and putting them in charge of the microchips that control our satellites, fighter jets, etc.
My point is that when evil is not eradicated, it will spread, and if you fail to trust and honor the God who made you a great nation, you can expect serious consequences.
