A Reminder:
The President won the election with less than 40% of the popular vote but had the majority of electoral votes. The Republican Party had put forth a candidate to win several crucial states that could swing the electoral college. The election was a bitter one with the Democratic Party fractured between two candidates.
The incoming President received so many death threats that he chose to arrive in Washington in secrecy. The security for the inauguration was the tightest ever with troops stationed on buildings throughout the day. This was an unprecedented amount of protection for any President-elect. Many members of Congress chose not to attend the ceremony.
Despite all this, Abraham Lincoln was sworn in as out 16th President on March 4, 1861.
SETTING OUR MINDS ON THINGS ABOVE
News and Knees
From what we’ve seen during President Trump’s first six weeks in office, it’s safe to say that the left is going to continue throwing as much mud as possible in Trump’s direction until something sticks. Conservatives are going to fight for more drastic changes to the healthcare bill. Trump’s tweets will continue to stir up trouble, and divides will grow wider because too many power centers have no interest in uniting the country.
It’s easy to wonder if the hatred we’ve been witnessing from the left has suddenly intensified or has it been there for a while and is now becoming evident? I’m leaning toward the latter. I think Trump’s unexpected election has derailed the Globalist Express. Things were going so well for them. This wasn’t in the plans. There was no contingency plan for such an occasion.
The only solution is to get rid of the opposition through whatever means are required. The preferred method appears to be to discredit and disrupt. Find a chink in the armor and then keep attacking it. Meanwhile, rally the willing “everyday people” who could use some spare cash or simply need an outlet for their anger, regardless of its source, and are willing to march, protest, disrupt, riot, strike, destroy some businesses, or find someone who might be a racist to beat to a pulp.
All this and all that’s to come is simply evidence that Satan is alive and well, and he has found plenty of willing puppets to control. As I said in a previous post, there’s a good reason why God didn’t
crush Satan long ago. It seems like that would have solved a lot of our problems, but God had a purpose. I am convinced that one such purpose was to teach His children how to overcome adversity, so why not learn how to go deal with our greatest adversary, Satan himself?
God has made it clear that He is in the midst of everything that happens to us, including what’s being played out on the world and national stages. This battle is no different from all the others we face. They are won on our knees. We are more than conquerors, and the ultimate victory has already been won, but the battles continue. Over and over, Scripture exhorts us to be strong and courageous. This assumes that there is a battle, and the battle is for our training-to live victoriously right here, right now, and to rule and reign with Christ in the future.

The frustration we endure every day as we watch or read the news should drive us to our knees, praying God’s will into existence and transferring our focus from what’s happening to the one who is sovereign over it all. What we’re witnessing is to be expected, but we have more power to change things than we realize, as long as our desires match God’s desires.
When Daniel discovered what was really happening regarding the 70-year captivity in Babylon, he searched his scrolls to find as many details as possible. Then, on behalf of his people, he prayed God’s expressed will into existence. We have the same opportunity today. God warned us of the increasing lawlessness that would lead us into the Great Tribulation. How close we are is impossible to say for sure, but our responsibility to pray is certain, and so is the promise of results.
