This issue contains some good news from Israel, an update on President Obama’s push to divide Israel, encouraging news from the Muslim Middle East, some shocking news for the pro-life community, and a writing tip for using hyphenated words.
OUR ISRAELI CONNECTION
Despite all the bad news from Israel, David Zauber (Jewish Believers in Jesus) reports:
We had an amazing outreach this weekend at a citywide Festival. We were in nonstop conversation, with those who simply do not understand the “connection” between Jesus and being Jewish; those who, like some of us growing up, could only see God through our mutually exclusive boxes. We were amazed at how many Jewish people attended this Festival and actually came to our booth to talk. PTL! The festival was predicted to attract up to 70,000 people, wow. It was so exciting to be able to share how it all fits with His plan, for all people, because He is the One True Living God of all.
From Onejerusalem.org:
This threat comes as Netanyahu has drawn a necessary and long ignored line in the sand. Recently Prime Minister Netanyahu told Obama’s Middle East Envoy, George Mitchell, that the Palestinians must openly endorse the concept of a Jewish State. Not only has Hamas rejected the idea of a Jewish State but the Palestinian Authority continues to insist on a mass migration of Palestinians into the land of Israel. This position has been a constant in negotiations between Israel and the PA.
Netanyahu’s Jewish State position has caused Arab and left-wing critics to denounce this as a deal breaker. In other words they want Israel to continue negotiating away its existence with people who refuse to acknowledge a Jewish State.
Not only did Netanyahu insist on a Jewish State, but he declared that he would not permit another Hamasastan on Israel’s borders. One such entity, Gaza is more than enough. Even though Obama is probably upset with Netanyahu’s stances, the new Prime Minister is correct in challenging the failed policies of the past.
IT’S NEWS TO ME
Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law & Justice www.aclj.org reports that if you are a member of the pro-life community, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has labeled you THE MOST DANGEROUS DOMESTIC TERRORIST. It’s all spelled out in a document entitled: ”Rightwing Extremism:” Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment. This characterization is not only offensive to millions of Americans who hold constitutionally protected views opposing abortion – but also raises serious concerns about the political agenda of an agency with a mandate to protect America.
After criss crossing the Islamic world over the last several years and interviewing more than 150 pastors and ministry leaders operating deep inside the most difficult countries for Inside The Revolution, I can report that in Iran, more than 1 million Shia Muslims have turned to Christ since 1979. In Pakistan, there are now more than 2.5 million followers of Jesus Christ. In Sudan, there are now more than 5 million followers of Christ. Not every country has seen millions leave Islam to become adherants of the New Testament teachings of Jesus. In Syria, there are between 4,000 and 5,000 believers, but this is up from almost none in 1967. In Saudi Arabia, there are about 100,000 followers of Jesus now, up from almost none in 1967. But overall, the trend has been dramatic and largely unreported.
For many Muslims, despair and despondency at what they see as the utter failure of Islamic governments and societies to improve their lives and give them peace, security, and a sense of purpose and meaning in life are causing them to leave Islam in search of truth. Some have lost their way entirely and become agnostics and atheists. Others, as we have seen, have sadly turned to alcohol and drug abuse. But millions are finding that only Jesus Christ heals the ache in their hearts and the deep wounds in their souls.
