SETTING OUR MINDS ON THINGS ABOVE
Regardless of who wins on Tuesday, things are going to change. I hope you read the first article above. I’d like to pick up where it left off. It talked about all the areas of our society that we have conceded to the far left. It addresses the lack of involvement by Christians and how we have largely fled to the safety of our churches, home groups, or wherever we feel secure.
It struck me that too often we have created our own “safe zones” where we can hide out from the unpleasantness of life and take comfort in the company of like-minded people. Don’t get me wrong. Fellowship with other believers is essential. The danger comes when it comes at the expense of getting our hands dirty through our involvement with the world into which we have been sent.
I would place politics at the top of the list of things that we run from when we consider how God wants us to interact with the world. We love to talk (and complain) about it, but don’t ask us to get involved. We’ve got more spiritual things to do. Besides, it’s so corrupt and it’s such a commitment. I totally get it. Yet we complain about the lack of Christian influence in government. I get that too. I’m guilty of all this.
So what should we do? What action will clearly please our Lord and have an influence on the culture? My experiences after Hurricane Matthew have made the path clear for me. The blessings I have received through the generosity of others and the satisfaction I have received by coming to the aid of those who are still hurting have presented a clear goal for me:
Search for ways to make life better for someone God has placed in my life.
It’s a shame it took a hurricane to bring me to what is perhaps the most basic of all commands. It’s the essence of Christianity, right after loving God with every part of our being. Once again, it’s back to the basics.
I had been wondering what I would do if Hillary wins or if Trump wins. I was concerned that if, by some miracle, Trump wins, that I (and all other Christians) would breathe a big sigh of relief and return to the status quo. Regardless of who wins, imagine what our country would be like if every believer took the command to love our neighbor seriously, regardless of who was in the White House.
How you choose to react to Tuesday’s election is up to you. I hope this post causes you to seriously consider how God wants you to respond.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
I took down my Rebel flag (which you can’t buy on EBAY any more) and peeled the NRA sticker off my front window. I disconnected my home alarm system and quit the Neighborhood Watch. I bought two Pakistani flags and put one at each corner of the front yard. Then I purchased the black flag of ISIS (which you CAN Buy on EBAY) and ran it up the flag pole.
Now the local police, sheriff, FBI, CIA, NSA, Homeland Security, Secret Service and other agencies are all watching my house 24/7. I’ve NEVER felt safer and I’m saving $69.95 a month that ADT used to charge me.
Plus, I bought burkas for me to wear when I shop or travel. Everyone moves out of the way and security can’t pat me down. If they say I’m a male wearing a burka, I just say I’m feeling like a woman today.
Safe at last! Is this administration great or what?
