Senior Palestinian Official Dies after Clash with IDF

Timesofisrael.com reports: Ziad Abu Ein, who headed the PA government agency that fights against the security barrier and settlements, was involved in a scuffle with Israeli troops near Turmusaya, south of the Shiloh settlement in the northern West Bank, during which he inhaled tear gas and was hit by a soldier’s rifle butt, Palestinian witnesses said. An Israeli witness, meanwhile, said that Abu Ein was not hit by a rifle butt. Read more.

Knesset Votes to Dissolve, Sets New Elections for March 17
Timesofisrael.com reports: Members of Israel’s 19th Knesset voted overwhelmingly in favor of a bill to dissolve the parliament, officially putting an end to the current government and paving the way for new elections in March…The Knesset passed a preliminary reading of the bill last week, just two days after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sacked his coalition partners ministers Yair Lapid, head of Yesh Atid, and Tzipi Livni, leader of the Hatnua party, in the opening shot of the run-up to the March 17 vote. Obama Orders Federally Funded Schools to Let Students Choose Their Own Gender
Visiontoamerica.com reports: The Obama administration has ordered schools that accept federal funding to allow people to attend single-sex lessons based on their self-identified “gender identity” rather than their biological sex. The Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights sent out a 36-page memo this week stating that under Title IX of the 1972 education amendments, “all students, including transgender students and students who do not conform to sex stereotypes, are protected from sex-based discrimination.
